ProTech Technician Training Paths

Monday to Friday work schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Works overtime as required by workload and customers' needs

Extensive knowledge of dirt machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Knowledge of repairing, troubleshooting, and diagnosing emission systems

Knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems repair, troubleshooting, and diagnosing

Knowledge of shop safety practices and LOTO protocols

Proficient with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems - CAT ET and CAT SIS

Ability to operate a conventional forklift and an overhead crane

The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions

Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair

The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects

The ability to read, write, and understand information

The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)

Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue

Frequently moves materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina

Ascends/descends with gradual or continuous progress by oneself, using both hands and feet and climbs up and down ladders and/or equipment

Be able to maneuver safely and work underneath equipment

Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Requires wearing common protective or safety equipment

Required to perform work in cramped spaces and/or high places

Requires regular and punctual employee attendance

Knowledge of heavy equipment machines such as dozers, excavators, motor graders, and other dirt moving equipment preferred

Seven or more years of diesel-powered heavy equipment repair experience preferred

Ability and knowledge to read/use schematics and diagrams experience is preferred

High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Graduation from a diesel technology program preferred

High school diploma or equivalent required.

At least three years of experience in production processes, machinery, and equipment related to sheet metal fabrication, plastic forming technology, foam and adhesive/upholstery assembly, welding applications, and/or metalworking technology.

Must have knowledge of MRP systems, scheduling, and blueprints.

Must have knowledge of bargaining agreement or willingness to learn.

Must be computer literate.

Must have the ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment.

Ability to read and review written communication.

Speech and hearing abilities that allow individual to communicate clearly and distinctly in English.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
